This policy covers the ShortHop iPhone app, including experimental video services available in test builds.
What ShortHop keeps on your device
ShortHop saves playback preferences, Back Tap setup progress and up to 5,000 watched video identifiers to help avoid repeats. Your current queue includes video titles and temporary playback links. The queue and playback diagnostics are kept in memory.
Website sign-ins and cookies are stored in the app’s WebKit browser storage. TikTok, Instagram and Facebook each use a separate store. ShortHop does not read your password or copy text from sign-in forms.
Video services and sign-in
Opening a video service connects your device to that service. It can receive your IP address, browser information, cookies, account details you enter, searches, viewing activity and other interactions. Its own privacy policy and account settings govern its handling of that information, including advertising and measurement.
For personalized YouTube suggestions, ShortHop sends the relevant YouTube session cookies to YouTube. Playback requests use video identifiers and may use a temporary anonymous visitor identifier. ShortHop does not send account cookies to its anonymous video resolver or manually attach them to video CDN requests.
Experimental browsers inspect video metadata delivered by the active service to prepare a playable queue. While a queue is playing, ShortHop may advance the service’s web feed to load more clips using that website session. The service may record those page loads and interactions. ShortHop does not read request bodies, passwords or authorization headers. TikTok playback may also request the public video page anonymously to find another playback format. ShortHop does not sync its local history back to a service’s watch history; the service can still observe activity in its website.

Advertising, analytics and permissions
ShortHop has no developer-operated analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDK. It does not access Apple’s advertising identifier or vendor identifier, and does not send app activity to a ShortHop server. The video services may display ads and perform their own measurement. This is not a claim that those services collect no data or perform no tracking.
ShortHop does not request camera, microphone, contacts, precise location or photo-library permission. Website camera, microphone and motion requests are denied. If you choose to send content or select a file on a service’s website, that service receives it.
Back Tap is configured in Apple’s Settings and Shortcuts apps. ShortHop does not monitor your phone’s motion sensors for taps. Background audio supports ongoing video and Picture in Picture playback.
Clearing data
In ShortHop’s Settings, you can clear watched history, clear the YouTube session, or clear sign-ins and browser data for the experimental services. Closing playback clears the active queue. Temporary diagnostic events are not uploaded by ShortHop.
Deleting the app removes its local app data, subject to Apple’s device and backup behavior. Clearing ShortHop does not delete your accounts or data held by a video service; use that service’s account controls for those requests.
Support and TestFlight
If you email support, we receive your email address, message and anything you choose to attach. We use that information to answer you and investigate the issue, and keep it only as needed for support and applicable recordkeeping. Do not send passwords or account cookies.
TestFlight is operated by Apple. Apple may collect test activity, crash information and feedback under its TestFlight terms and privacy information. Feedback you submit through TestFlight may be shared with the developer.
Children and updates
ShortHop is not designed for children under 13 and does not provide its own age verification or parental controls. Video services have their own age requirements and content controls. This policy may change as the app changes; the date above identifies the current version.
